Reno, NV

Client: University of Nevada-Reno

Architect: H+K Architects

Project Summary

The William N. Pennington Student Achievement Center project, built for the University of Nevada Reno, included the new construction of a three story 77,345 square foot student services building located on the Reno Campus of the University of Nevada in Reno, NV. The facility houses multiple student resource centers, which consist of the Writing Center, Math Center, Tutoring Center, Nevada Career Studio, Advising Center, Student Veterans Affairs, Disabilities Resource Center, Counseling Services, and Trio and McNair Scholars, and supports reflection and meditation rooms. The student services building was constructed of a structural steel frame on a spread and beam concrete foundation, a masonry and glass curtain wall exterior, and a metal, single-ply roof. The project also featured the demolition of the university's library and the incorporation of original granite materials from the library into the new student services building. Due to CORE's restoration and salvaging efforts, the William N. Pennington Student Achievement Center now provides a healthier, state-of-the-art facility for the pursuit of academic success.
