The Sanders Science Hall at Eureka College project, built for Eureka College, included the addition of a four story 17,270 classroom addition located on the college's campus in Eureka, IL. The facility houses the college's pre-professional programs, mathematics, computer science, and liberal arts. The classroom addition was constructed with a cast in place concrete foundation and steel structural frame. A masonry exterior and single ply roof completed the construction. The project also featured state-of-the-art organic and inorganic chemistry laboratories with prep room and instrumentation, a tiered multimedia classroom, classrooms, a seminar room, faculty offices, and a study room as well as sensor controlled lighting, and geothermal heating system. This project achieved Silver Certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design from the U.S. Green Building Council for site selection, sustainable design, and construction features. Due to CORE's use of recycled materials, Sanders Science Hall at Eureka College compliments the architecture of the adjoining 19th Century built Vennum-Binkley Science Hall and successfully blends the history of the campus with the latest in technology.
