Project Summary

The Paul B. Habans Elementary School project, built for the Louisiana Department of Education Recovery School District, included the new construction of a three-story 109,633 square foot elementary school located in New Orleans, LA. The facility, now known as the Paul Habans Charter School, houses 788 students in grades pre-kindergarten through eight. The elementary school was constructed on a composite piles foundation with a structural steel frame. An exterior of masonry and metal wall panels exterior and modified bituminous roof completed the construction. The project also features a gymnasium, media center, music rooms, science laboratories, and outdoor commons area. The elementary school achieved Silver Certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design from the US Green Building Council for new construction and major renovations. Due to CORE's construction efforts, the Paul B. Habans Elementary School project now offers a modern and state-of-the-art educational facility to the community after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
