Lusher High School Refurbishment

New Orleans, LA

Client: Orleans Parish School Board

Architect: SCNZ Architects

Project Summary

The Lusher High School Refurbishment project, built for the Orleans Parish School Board, included the restoration and renovation of a four story 160,600 square foot school campus located in New Orleans, LA. The facility houses grades Kindergarten through Twelfth in a building originally constructed in 1929. The school campus was constructed with a concrete foundation and a concrete masonry unit structural frame. A concrete masonry unit and plaster exterior and SBS modified bituminous roof completed the building. The project also featured the restoration and re-glazing of wood and steel windows, replacement of the first and second floor exterior doors, installation of a new heating ventilation and air conditioning system and electrical, plumbing, and fire sprinkler systems, construction of a new subsurface drainage system, and erection of two new canopy structures. Due to CORE's thorough planning, comprehensive construction scheduling, and utilization of temporary classroom trailers, Lusher High School remained in operation throughout the refurbishment project with minimal interference to the educational environment.
