Project Summary

The La Mesita Family Homeless Shelter project, built for SD Crane, CORE a Joint Venture, included the demolition of existing residential living space and utility structures, relocation of utility easements, and new construction of three four story 94,000 square foot low income housing complex located in Mesa, AZ. The facility houses 80 multi-family units and commercial use areas. The low-income housing complex was constructed of a concrete footing foundation, a wood and steel structural frame, metal panel and stucco exterior, and a membrane roof with metal panel accents. The project also featured site work consisting of parking areas, roadways, landscaping, playground structures, community gardens, and a splash pad. This project achieved Platinum Certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design from the US Green Building Council for sustainable construction practices and energy efficiency. Due to CORE's construction efforts, the La Mesita Family Homeless Shelter project provides affordable housing and services to individuals and families with low and moderate incomes in the community of East Mesa.
