The Drew Elementary School Renovation project, completed for the Louisiana Department of Economic Recovery School District, included the addition, demolition, restoration, and renovation of a three story 69,000 square foot elementary school campus located in New Orleans, LA. The facility houses approximately 200 students in grades Third through Eighth. The elementary school was constructed utilizing a concrete foundation and a concrete masonry unit structural frame with brick and stucco exterior and standing seam membrane roof. The project also featured the demolition of original walls, floors, mechanical equipment, and electrical systems and replacement of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. New features included window glass, automatic sprinkler system, state-of-the-art fire alarm system, two restroom towers, and library reading room. Site work consisted of a courtyard play area, covered walkways, and two ADA compliant ramps. Due to CORE's restoration efforts in salvaging and reusing of the original wood floors and window sashes, Drew Elementary School stands fully restored to serve the Bywater District of New Orleans.
